Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!
A new report on social mobility by a previous UK minister has said that the gap between rich and poor is growing.
The report said that even though there is a desire by many to close the gap, the divisions between rich and poor are still increasing.
For example, top professions such as medicine, law and the senior civil service are very difficult to enter unless you come from an affluent and well educated family.
The author of the report, Alan Milburn, says that one solution to this problem is to give the best careers advice to young people from all backgrounds.
Showing young people the different careers available to them and how they can get their dream jobs is important because sometimes young people from poor backgrounds do not know the options available to them.
They may also not know how to get the job they want.
Mr Milburn also said that sometimes young people find the doors to a career they want closed because they do not have the right connections.
He wants to change that and make sure that young people get jobs because of what they know, not who they know.
