Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!
Many universities around the world give honorary degrees to people who have done special things in their lives.
Famous people such as Muhammad Ali, the world-famous boxer and Nelson Mandela have received honorary degrees from universities in America and the UK.
Now the University of Cambridge, one of the UK's oldest universities will award an honorary degree to Alan Brigham, a street sweeper in the city.
Alan has been a street sweeper for thirty years in Cambridge and is well known to many of its residents.
But he is also a local historian and tour guide for many of Cambridge's visitors.
When he is not working as a sweeper, Alan shows visitors around the city and talks to them about its history.
A spokesman for the University of Cambridge told the BBC that the university gives honorary MA degrees to people who have made positive contributions to the city of Cambridge and its people.
Alan also said that it was very nice for him to receive the degree, however many others should be honoured like this for all of the good work that they do.
