Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!

The UK government department in charge of training and development in schools is launching a campaign to encourage more men to become primary school teachers.

Currently, only ten percent of teachers in primary schools are male.

The government wants this to increase so that there is more of a balance in the numbers of male and female teachers.

Joe Waddle, a primary school teacher, told the BBC that he thinks there are so few male teachers in primary schools because people think that looking after children is a woman's task.

He also said that men feel that the education of young children is more about the caring aspect than the educational one.

This makes men prefer teaching older children in secondary school rather than in primary schools.

Alison is a mother of a young boy at primary school and supports the idea of more male teachers.

She said that male and female influences on a child are very important and that a number of children come to her son's school from single parent families, where the parent is usually a woman.

This means that a male teacher might be the only male influence on young boys from this background.

Men might be attracted to teaching if they hear what Matt Nott, a young teacher, told the BBC.

He said "It's the best job in the world. I can be a footballer in the morning, teach drama...a scientist, a mathematician, a poet... all in a day".

I agree in the opinion of many teachers of teachers at this stage as the students in a very early age and this stage in particular, require dealing with the emotional and educational student more than it is to teach a lesson by the teacher, therefore, called this stage name of the school of education, where it together, because as a student What is needed to teach and care needs both passion and such available to the females than in males.
