Hello and Welcome to BBC Xtra English!
A lady called Mrinal Patel was prosecuted by her local council because they say she lied on a school application form
Mrs Patel wanted her son to go to a good school in Harrow, North London, but because of the way the system works, she had to live close to the school.
The area close to the school is called the catchment area.
Schools use catchment areas because sometimes there not enough places for local children.
Mrs Patel put her mother's address on her son's application form and said she lived there for the past 14 years - even though she had only been living there for four weeks.
She used her mother's address because it was closer to the school and in the catchment area.
When the council found out, it tried to prosecute Mrs Patel using the Fraud Act 2006 but lawyers advised the council to drop the case as the Fraud Act could not be used in this case.
There are many cases where parents will use an address close to a good school to try and get their children into that school.
Some of the best schools in Britain are faith schools and to get into these schools, you need to go to church regularly. There is evidence that some parents begin going to church regularly around the time they apply for their child's school.
It might seem wrong, but it looks like parents would do almost anything to get their children into a good school.
