Eight years away, and there are already official discussions taking place about the 2016 Olympic Games.
Rasha and Amber discover the sports which might be seen in the Olympics of the future.
Sports such as athletics, gymnastics and cycling have long been a major feature of the Olympic Games.
However, when enthusiasts of less well known sports seek inclusion in the games, lobbying must begin early.
Representatives from the world of golf, squash, karate, seven-a-side rugby, and roller speed skating have been meeting with officials of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Switzerland, in an attempt to gain Olympic recognition.
The decision to include or exclude a sport from the Games is based on specific criteria.
Top priorities include:
Can the sport bring something new to the Olympic Games?
Will it be exciting enough for the online, television and radio audience?
Will it appeal to young people?
Youth appeal was important in deciding why BMX cycling was introduced at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
This has given confidence to a delegation of roller speed skating supporters who believe this sport could be a big draw for young sports fans.
October 2009 was the date set for a decision on which sport is in, and which sport is out, of the 2016 Olympics.
Which sport should be included in future Olympic Games and why? Write to us with your comments in English.
