Today John and Rasha talk about the dental divide between America and Britain.

There is a new story in the BBC's magazine website that looks at the big difference between people's teeth in America and in Britain.

A British film, with a British lead actor was being promoted in America and an American journalist said that the lead actor was very brave to always appear as a character with awful teeth.

But those were always the actor's natural teeth!

In America, very few actors would act without making sure that their teeth were white and glowing.

Even though some people might have found this embarrassing, it seems that people in Britain think differently from those in America.

Our reporter Val spoke to people on the street and asked them why they thought American people feel perfect teeth are so important.

Some of the people said that perfect teeth were a status symbol in America because it is expensive to make them look so perfect.

Other people felt that they were for showing off, particularly as Hollywood was glamorous.

Britain is not so glamorous which is why British people don't care so much about perfect teeth.

It doesn't cost you too much money to make your teeth perfect if you brush them every day logecly they will become clean white and glowing and that not only for celebraties and lead actors its a general state and all should care about our teeth

Every society gives more importance to some appearance details or behaviour comparing to the others. Having white and glowing teeth is some thing nice and healthy, but to became an obsession and spend lot of money to have perfect teeth is wrong. The most important is the personality.
