Today Doug and Inas talk about brain power in the UK.
A government committee has said that brain power is the UK؟s most important economic asset.
The committee felt that the UK should have more policies to fight mental illness and decline and related problems.
For example, the committee recommends that the government does more to combat childhood learning difficulties.
The committee also wants more to be done to fight depression. It feels that many people are worried a recession might happen and so they are suffering from anxiety and stress.
Sometimes people who are worried about their jobs or debts become very ill and this affects their work and their life in general.
The committee wants the government to look at making flexible working hours for people so that they can have a positive work-life balance.
The committee believes that if the government intervenes more in trying to solve mental illness, it will save a lot of money that might have been used to treat people in the future.
