To live to a ripe old age, people need to get rid of habits such as smoking or drinking too much.
It is also important to stick to a healthy weight by eating the right kind of food such as fresh fruit and vegetables.
Exercise is also very important as it keeps people fit and healthy.
The research found that living longer is not just something down to genes or fate.
People can make choices that will make them live longer or shorter and so this is an incentive for them to make the right choice.
Another theory suggests that stress and strain cause people to live a shorter life.
