In BBC Xtra English today Anna and Rasha explore one of the world's least known continents - Antarctica.
One of the world's last frontiers is about to be discovered.
A large sub-glacial mountain range, called the Gamburtsev, will be explored as part of the 2008 International Polar Year.
It is buried four kilometres beneath the ice.
The expedition is complex, and will be made up of teams from Britain, Germany, the United States, Australia, China and Japan.
As well as finding out the origins of the mountains, the teams aim to find the oldest ice samples on the planet.
Scientists say that the samples will provide important information about climate change in the past that will help predict future climate change.
Specialised radar equipment will be used to get more information about the structure of the mountain.
The team from the UK describes the exploration as a complete enigma.
The expedition will last two and a half months, and the explorers will have to work in temperatures of minus forty degrees Celsius.
Have you ever wanted to take part in an expedition? If so, where would you like to go and why?
