Male baldness is about more than vanity. It can give us information about male health and well as health problems that men can face in the future.

Scientists at two universities in Germany have found a hair loss gene which they believe causes baldness in men.

These scientists discovered one of the reasons for why men go bald: a hair loss gene that can be inherited from the mother and not just the father.

Hair loss is not simply a cosmetic problem for men.

Scientists study male hair loss because it is an indicator of potential problems for a man, such as heart disease or a heart attack.

But men should not worry, as heart problems are caused by many different factors.

A good lifestyle and healthy diet should protect men from heart problems.
