Welcome to
BBC Xtra English.
Today Liliane and Cath are talking about
modern grandparenting.
The stereotype of a grandfather is an old man sitting in a rocking chair. The image of a traditional granny is an old lady knitting in the corner.
But all this has changed now! A book published last week says that modern grandparents are very different.
Grandparents today are younger, more trendy and more with it.
The Modern Grandparents' Guide says that grandparenting in the twenty-first century demands active go-getters!
And research by a British toy manufacturer says that today's grandparents are cooler and more technology savvy.
In the UK today, many grandparents are really involved in their grandchildren's lives - they are hands-on grandparents.
Recent research says that 60% of children in the UK are looked after by their grandparents.
The grandparents are acting as unofficial child-minders while both parents go out to work.
