Australia is suffering from a drought; a man drought.

According to the recent census in Australia there are 100,000 more females than males in the country.

This represents a large imbalance which is mainly found in coastal cities. Here women have moved to find better jobs and better lifestyles.

The men that once lived in coastal towns have moved to other countries. These include 12,000 Australians living in Dubai.

30 years ago immigration policies favoured males.

But now there are large groups of unattached women living in big cities.

In the countryside it's totally different. Some communities are overloaded with younger males as the women leave for the cities.

In the small town of Mount Isa, there are 5 men to every woman.

The Mayor of the town has recently tried to attract more women to the town. He said: "With five blokes to every girl, may I suggest that beauty disadvantaged women should proceed to Mount Isa".

His plans have outraged people and he has been swamped with complaints.

I believe this problem is becoming more common worldwide. We need to think fairly about polygamy. Is it acceptable to have a wife and a lover rather than having two or three wives, I wonder?!
