Today Louay and John discuss the topic of being environmentally friendly.

A recent report from British scientists says that even people who subscribe to green ideas don't want to stop flying.

According to researchers at Exeter University, flying for business and pleasure is such an integral part of people's lives that they feel unable to give it up even though they know that flying is a significant cause of emissions of carbon dioxide which are responsible for climate change.

The scientists call these people "eco hypocrites." - people in developed countries who believe in being green but make excuses for themselves when it comes to jetting about.

According to the survey, instead of stopping flying, people seem to believe that new technology will be the best way to cut carbon emissions in aviation. Researchers believe the results highlight important issues not only for developed countries but also for developing countries with industrial economies like India and China.

It's going to be difficult for those countries to deny to their citizens what we have access to in the West which is flying around for relatively low cost.

Other research has shown that raising taxes by about one hundred dollars per ticket is the only significant way to curb flying however it's thought that governments would not be happy to introduce such high taxes as they would be too unpopular.
