Today Inas and John are talking about problems with litter.

Pieces of plastic litter are a big problem in many parts of the world.

On the streets and in the sea you see plastic bags and containers that people have thrown away as well as plastic food packaging

Rubbish dumps are filling up. This plastic litter is bad for the environment.

What would happen if you collected all the plastic you use in one month? A BBC reporter did just that.

Here is what she collected:

36 carrier bags

67 pieces of food packaging

23 polystyrene tea cups

24 plastic coffee cup lids

16 water bottles

and lots more food packaging!

Some of that plastic could have been recycled.

John says that he is going to take up the challenge of living without plastic for a month.
