Man held over stab murder probe

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of a 50-year-old who was found at a flat with multiple stab wounds.

The arrested 45-year-old was held by police following the discovery of the body of Winston Dowe-Stephenson at his home in High Town, Luton, on Thursday.

Post-mortem tests found he died from stab wounds at the Frederick Street flat, Bedfordshire Police said.

The man was arrested at an address in Woolhampton, Reading, Berkshire.

He is being interviewed at Luton police station.

The spokeswoman said: "This is being treated as a murder inquiry after the post-mortem carried out yesterday (Saturday) showed that Mr Dowe-Stephenson died of multiple stab wounds."

Mr Dowe-Stephenson was unemployed, divorced and had grown-up children.

Anyone with any information about what happened at the flat is asked to contact Bedfordshire Police.
