Planters are being distributed to people across Cheltenham as part of the town's bid to win a coveted prize.
It is hoped the spread of flower-filled containers will impress judges from the Britain in Bloom contest.
Communities or individuals are to adopt the planters and will be responsible for watering and feeding them.
Chris Ryder, chairman of Cheltenham In Bloom said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to continue to promote and sing the praises of Cheltenham."
John Crowther from Cheltenham Borough Council added: "The Cheltenham in Bloom campaign is an important event in the town's calendar.
"We have been keen to make the town look its best for the event and to broaden public support by distributing planters to community groups."
The areas taking part in the scheme are Warden Hill, Charlton Kings, Leckhampton police station, Pittville and Westal Green.
