The daughter of a man who was "brutally" beaten by robbers in his own home has appealed for people to help catch his attackers.
Police said Steven Hamilton, 51, was found by his daughter Lynne with "nasty" injuries at his house in Grasby Road, Hull, on Monday morning.
He suffered several injuries and a blood clot to the brain and is said to be stable in Hull Royal Infirmary.
Miss Hamilton, 20, urged anyone with information to contact police.
Humberside Police have not yet been able to speak to Mr Hamilton about what happened but they believe he was the innocent victim of a robbery.
Suspicious callers
Miss Hamilton said: "I want to say to people please, please come forward and don't be scared to do so.
"He's the kind of person that would do anything for anyone, he didn't deserve this."
Miss Hamilton said she last heard from her father when he sent her a text message on Saturday night to say he was going to do some shopping at the Asda store on Kingswood in Hull.
She normally speaks to him every day and became concerned when he did not contact her on Sunday.
When Miss Hamilton called at her father's house she found him semi-conscious. She said the house looked as though it had been searched and some of her father's possessions were missing.
'Brutal attack'
Mr Hamilton, who suffers from osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis, is divorced and lives alone. His injuries include a fractured eye socket and cheek bone.
Police want to speak to anyone who saw him between 2130 BST on Saturday and 1000 BST on Monday, when he was found.
Det Sgt Kevin Foster said: "This was a brutal attack on a man who was in his own home at the time.
"At this stage we are unsure exactly when the incident occurred but I would appeal to anyone who thinks they may know something that will assist us in locating the person or people responsible for this attack to contact us immediately.
"Also, if there is anyone living in the area who received any suspicious callers at their address over the weekend we would like to hear from them."
