Man, 21, dies after hit by train

A man hit by a train in Northumberland has died from his injuries.

British Transport Police said the victim was 21. He will not be named until he has been formally identified.

It happened on Saturday afternoon at Cramlington. The man was struck by a Northern Rail service heading north from Newcastle to Chathill.

British Transport Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious. Services in the area were disrupted for up to 50 minutes.
