Woman, 79, injured in collision

A 79-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after she was hit by a car while walking in Essex.

The accident happened in Thundersley near Benfleet on Saturday.

A police spokeswoman said a silver Mercedes car being driven by a 38-year-old woman in Hart Road collided with the woman.

Essex police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
