O'Sullivan set to take on Liang

Ronnie O'Sullivan and Liang Wenbo
O'Sullivan and Liang met at The Crucible in April

World number one Ronnie O'Sullivan will play China's Liang Wenbo in the first round of next month's Royal London Watches Grand Prix in Glasgow.

The draw will give Liang the chance for revenge after his defeat by O'Sullivan in the quarter-finals at the World Championship in April.

Defending champion Marco Fu will play Jimmy Michie, while Stephen Hendry has to face Dave Gilbert.

And world number two Stephen Maguire will take on Jamie Cope.

Maguire has set his sights on challenging O'Sullivan at the very top of the world rankings.

"I'm not happy with just being the best of the rest," he said.

"Ronnie's a good head above the field right now. He's playing like the best player in the world.

"It's just a case of knuckling down off the table as well as on the table and trying to catch him."

And the Scot insists O'Sullivan is not unbeatable, even when he is playing at his best.

"Two years ago, Ronnie was at his peak against John Higgins in the Masters final and John took him apart," said Maguire.

"If you're sitting in your seat, there's nothing you, Ronnie or anybody can do."

Draw for the first round of the Royal London Watches Grand Prix (October 11-19):

Ali Carter v Dave Harold
Joe Perry v Barry Hawkins
Ryan Day v Ricky Walden
Stephen Hendry v Dave Gilbert
Graeme Dott v Judd Trump
Ronnie O'Sullivan v Liang Wenbo

Ding Junhui v Jamie Burnett
Mark Allen v Michael Holt
