Inquiry into site redevelopment

A public inquiry will consider plans for the development of the Langley Park site in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Four planning applications will be appealed at the inquiry which is due to begin on Tuesday.

These include the demolition and redevelopment of the site to provide a mix of housing and shops.

The applications were refused by North Wiltshire District Council for reasons including the effect the new shops would have on Chippenham town centre.

Planners were also unhappy with the amount of on-site open spaces in the design submitted on behalf of Ashtenne Industrial Fund Ltd Partnership.

The public inquiry is expected to run until Friday 23 May at North Wiltshire District Council, Monkton Park, Chippenham.
