An 11-year-old boy killed after being knocked down by a hit-and-run driver in north London has been identified as Michael Richard McDonagh.

Michael was hit while on the pedestrian crossing outside Ikea on the North Circular Road in Neasden on Saturday.

He was then hit by a second car, which stopped nearby after the collision.

The boy, who was known as Richie, suffered serious head injuries and died on Sunday. Police said he died from multiple injuries.

Officers said the first car which hit Richie and failed to stop was possibly an older model BMW.

The car was seen driving off on the eastbound road towards Brent Cross.

No arrests have been made over the collision.
