Two accidents on the same stretch of road in Gloucestershire have left one man dead and another critically ill.

The man who died was driving a taxi along the A48 at Minsterworth in the early hours of Sunday when his car hit a roadside building.

Also at about 1900 BST on Saturday a Ford Fiesta hit a telegraph pole at the side of the road.

The driver, a 20-year-old man, was taken to Frenchay Hospital near Bristol with serious injuries.

A 45-year-old woman was taken to the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Cheltenham and treated for minor injuries.
