Main road closed for two weekends

Drainage work to prevent flooding will close a main road in Berkshire for the next two weekends.

Contractors said they were experiencing "unforeseen complications" during the works in Cannon Lane, Maidenhead, resulting in the closures.

The road was also shut over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Stephen Brown, head of highways and engineering at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, said further closures should not be needed.

He said: "We had allowed for additional weekend closures in case there were delays or bad weather.

"We are disappointed that the work could not be completed over the Bank Holiday but we believe that, given good weather, it should be done over the next two weekends."

Diversions will be put in place, he said.
