Rugby club blaze could be arson

Hungerford Rugby Club
Much of the club's kit that was stored in the building was destroyed

Thames Valley Police believe a fire at a Berkshire rugby club could have been started deliberately.

Part of the main building at Hungerford Rugby Club was destroyed in the blaze over the weekend but nobody was hurt.

Crews were called in the early hours of Saturday to Triangle Field, Priory Road after a passer-by raised the alarm after seeing smoke.

It took three hours to put the fire out. Police are investigating the cause and said arson has not been ruled out.
