Teenager killed in car collision

One teenager was killed and another was rescued from a burning car following a collision in Hertfordshire.

They were in a car that was in collision with a van on Comet Way, Hatfield, on Monday evening.

A police officer and a passer-by pulled a 17-year-old passenger from the car and he was treated in hospital, but the 19-year-old driver died at the scene.

The driver of the van suffered leg and head injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police appealed for anyone who saw the collision to contact officers.
