Emergency services were called to Stoke Hammond, near Milton Keynes at 0035 BST after reports of a man and a woman seriously injured on a boat.

Thames Valley Police said the man, 53, and woman, 39, were pronounced dead at the scene. They have not yet been formally identified.

The man, arrested at the scene, remains in police custody in Milton Keynes.

The circumstances surrounding the incident on the Grand Union Canal are under investigation by detectives, who have said they are not at this stage looking for anyone else in connection with their inquiry.
