Golf ball 'pest' damaging homes

A pest hurling golf balls has led to an unusual series of complaints in Bedfordshire, police have said.

Homes and cars have been hit by balls on six occasions in the Ampthill Road area of Flitwick, which have smashed windows, roof slates and windscreens.

Leaflets were distributed by police to residents urging anyone who has seen someone throwing balls to contact them.

"Although no-one has been hurt, there is always the potential for injury," PCSO Kirsty Bannon said.

"Ampthill Road is a main route through the town and it's also possible that passing motorists may have seen something that may help us identify the offender."
