Deported drug dealer jailed again

A crack cocaine dealer, deported at the end of a prison sentence in January last year, has been jailed again.

Donovan James, 28, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty at Luton Crown Court to possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply.

He said the drugs were for himself and his girl friend who lived in Stevenage in Hertfordshire.

Judge Richard Foster jailed him for three years and said he would again be deported at the end of the sentence.

James was released after serving 42 months of a prison sentence in January 2007 and was arrested at Knebworth with 15 wraps of the drug in his mouth in May this year.

Janet Lyon, prosecuting, said two plain clothed police officers approached him at Knebworth station.

Drugs culture

"They showed him their warrant cards which caused him to run off and they saw him spit something out of his mouth," she said.

They retrieved 15 wraps of crack cocaine of high purity.

In interview he said he was on his way to smoke it with his girlfriend in Stevenage.

She said he was convicted in April 2004 of supplying crack cocaine to undercover police officers in London and released in October 2006 and deported on 24 January 2007.

Judge Richard Foster told him; "You are, it seems, very deeply involved in the drugs culture, judging by your criminal history and the amount of drugs you had on you."
