Heavy rainfall causes disruption

Heavy rain and high winds have caused disruption on some roads in the East Midlands, police say.

In Derbyshire, flooding led to the closure of sections of the A6 Buxton Road at Whaley Bridge, Markeaton Lane in Derby and Park Road in Swadlincote.

A police spokesman said: "We have had a few accidents on carriageways which may have been caused by driving not in accordance with the road conditions."

In Lincolnshire, a flood watch was issued for the River Rase.

The Environment Agency said an area of the river downstream from Market Rasen near Bishop's Bridge was affected.

A flood watch is also in place on the lower Derwent River in Derbyshire, an agency spokeswoman said.
