Disorder crackdown is continuing

Additional uniformed officers have taken to the streets of three County Durham towns as a crackdown on anti-social behaviour continues.

The high-visibility patrols are being carried out in Crook, Willington and Tow Law during "Operation Buller".

Officers have access to alcohol-testing strips in a bid to reduce alcohol-related disorder.

A Durham Police spokesman said that there had already been positive feedback from residents.

During the last weekend in September, more than 60 young people were spoken to by the police.

Insp Tony Avery, head of the neighbourhood policing team in Crook, said: "Residents can be assured we will continue to improve the quality of life in public areas and target local priorities as identified by the public."
