Upgrade for city's cycle routes

Cyclists in Oxford are to benefit from a £50,000 revamp to some routes.

Oxfordshire County Council is to upgrade a cycle route connecting Jericho to north Oxford and Marston.

Pelican crossings at Banbury Road and Woodstock Road will also be upgraded to toucans - where cyclists do not have to dismount from their bikes to cross.

The footway on the west side of Woodstock Road, between Frenchay Road and Bainton Road, will also be converted to a shared footway/cycleway.

A public consultation took place between 2 June and 7 July 2008.
