A funeral has been held in Poland for a man killed when a coach carrying him and other migrant workers crashed near Alton Towers theme park.

The service was held for Piotr Wolski, who came from the village of Labunie, in eastern Poland, on Thursday.

The 26-year-old, who worked on a farm in Northamptonshire, died and 71 people were injured in the village of Alton, Staffordshire on 18 August.

The male coach driver and three women are still being treated in hospital.

The driver's condition remains critical but stable while the women are said to be improving.

Inquest opened

Staffordshire Police said a detailed examination of the coach was continuing.

An inquest into Mr Wiolski's death has been opened and adjourned.

He and other migrant workers from Lutton Farm, Oundle, near Peterborough, had been on a day trip to Alton Towers and were on their way back when the crash happened.

The coach hit two cars on Station Road and then rolled down an embankment before coming to rest in a back garden.
