The widower and daughter of cancer victim Jane Tomlinson have arrived in their home city on the 11th day their 1,400-mile charity bike ride.

Mrs Tomlinson, of Rothwell, Leeds, died last September after a seven-year battle with breast cancer.

Husband Mike, 47, and daughter Rebecca, 20, set off from John O'Groats on 11 July, heading to Land's End via London.

On Monday, they were riding from Settle in the Yorkshire Dales to Leeds where the family live.

Emotional journey

Mr Tomlinson said: "Its been very, very strange coming back to Yorkshire.

"It feels like we should finish here.

"Leeds is obviously where we're from and where Jane lived most of her life, it's key."

By the end of the ride on 1 August, he and daughter Rebecca hope to take the funds raised by his wife's charity Jane's Appeal above the £2m mark.

Among Mrs Tomlinson's many endurance challenges was a tandem cycle ride from John O'Groats to Land's End in 2003 during which she stopped twice for chemotherapy treatment.
