Man held after clubber is raped

A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a teenager was raped in a Darlington street.

The 18-year-old victim was dragged to the side of the old Cactus Jack club in Commercial Street early on Saturday.

Police said the attacker struck up a conversation with the woman after following her through part of the town.

A Durham Police spokesman said the suspect, from North Yorkshire, was arrested on Monday and was being held at Darlington police station.
