Driver charged over fatal crash

A driver has been charged in connection with a fatal crash on Wearside.

Christopher Turnbull, from Silksworth, near Sunderland, died in the incident on the A19, close to the A1231 junction, on 21 January.

The 22-year-old was driving a Ford Escort which was involved in a collision with a BMW.

A 39-year-old Gateshead man is due to appear before magistrates in Sunderland on Tuesday, charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
