Man charged over lay-by body find

A man has been charged with murdering a Swedish woman whose body was found in a burning suitcase in a lay-by.

Rahmona Ahmedin, 23, who was also known as Rahma, lived in Peabody Square, Islington, north London, and was reported missing on 14 June.

Her body was found by a lorry driver in a lay-by on the A1301 at Hinxton in Cambridgeshire on Wednesday.

Jamal Bakhit, who is 24 and homeless, is due at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with murder.

He was arrested after walking into a London police station.

A murder investigation was begun by Cambridgeshire Police, but it has been taken over by the Metropolitan Police.

A post-mortem examination gave Ms Ahmedin's cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.
