Man arrested after girl attacked

Police investigating the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in her own home have arrested a man.

The girl was asleep in her bedroom in Darlington when it is believed an intruder made his way into the property.

The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday.

A 26-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of rape on Tuesday morning and is currently being questioned by police.
