Business statement

Leader of the House Jane Hutt wished the Archbishop of Wales well in his efforts to ensure that "we have women bishops in Wales" on 27 November 2012.

She expressed her wishes in light of the Church of England's decision not to ordain female bishops.

Plaid Cymru AM Jocelyn Davies called on the minister to ensure that the government grants do not go to organisations who see women as second rate.

Ms Hutt assured her that the standard grant awards letter states that recipients of grant aid must apply a policy of equal opportunities.

North Wales AM Antoinette Sandbach called on the minister for environment and sustainability to promote ways of preparing for floods.

The Conservative AM suggested that John Griffiths AM utilised advice from the environment agency in his statement which could include "five easy steps" to follow when a flood warning is issued.

Ms Hutt thanked the member for her suggestion which she described as "useful information to brief him (the minister)".
