Business and enterprise questions

The business, enterprise, technology and science minister emphasised her support to the Severn barrage whilst answering AMs' questions on 14 November 2012.

Mrs Hart said that it was important for the Welsh government "to play a role" in the development of the barrage.

"It's strategically important for us in tems of renewable energy," she added.

"One of the key issues is energy security for the nation and will have to be stressed in all discussions within government."

She also said that it was important for the environmental impact of the barrage to be considered in any discussion.

According to the minister, plans for the barrage have been submitted to the UK government, and the Welsh government will have to wait for an outline of the ongoing discussions.

Other topics raised with the minister were Cardiff International Airport, business rates and the importance of food and drink to the tourism industry.
