Statement on reconfiguring the NHS

The conservatives called for a transparent health system following the health minister's statement on progress on 13 November 2013.

Lesley Griffiths AM made a statement on the government's five year plan for health in Wales Together for Health.

The minister claimed that they have made "great strides" in implementing the changes outlined in the report "to improve patient care".

"We've developed strong momentum over the past year," she said.

"Our focus remains clear: we want safe, sustainable high-quality healthcare for the future.

"Our overarching aims are better health for all, reduced health inequalities and the best possible outcomes for patients."

Saying he shared the minister's aspiration for better health in Wales, Shadow Health Minister Darren Millar said that "we know key performance indicators aren't being met.

"We need to get our services right for the 21st century," he said.

"We have to make sure we have a process that we can rely on, that's transparent, and makes the case for change."
