Finance questions

Women are "bearing the brunt" of the high unemployment problem in Wales, according to Plaid Cymru AM Lindsay Whittle.

Finance Minister Jane Hutt was answering members' question on 11 July 2012.

The AM for South Wales East raised concerns that there are currently 17,000 people unemployed in Wales and that women were increasingly "bearing the brunt of the problem."

Mr Whittle added high unemployment amongst women "seems to be a Welsh trend".

The minister agreed that this needed to be addressed and that the Welsh government's Jobs Growth Wales Scheme would aim to ensure that 4,000 young people are given job and training opportunities over the next three years.

The minister also answered questions on devolving funding powers, the NHS budget and gypsy families.
