Assembly Commission's Budget Motion

Assembly Members approved the budget for the Assembly Commission for 2012-13 on 16 November 2011.

Addressing the chamber, Commission Member Angela Burns stressed that the commission would continue to work to ensure that value for money is provided across the assembly.

The commission's budget for 2012-13 is £47 million of which £13.5 million will provide funding for assembly members' salaries, their staff and the costs of running their constituency offices located across Wales.

The remaining £33.5 million is for services delivered by the assembly commission to support the assembly.

Members' salaries are frozen at their current level until 2014-15 and next year there will be no increase in the salaries paid to their staff.

Additional funding approved for next year will be used to meet increases to those costs to which the assembly has committed, and to strengthen the services provided by the commission.
