Health and Social Services questions

Conservative AM Darren Millar challenged the Health Minister on her decision to set up the National Clinical Forum on 5 October 2011.

The opposition's health spokesperson said that by establishing the forum, it looked as if the minister "wanted to pass the buck" on clinical matters.

Ms Griffiths announced on 20 September 2011 that she would be establishing an independent body to review Health Board plans.

The responsibility of the group of clinicians will be to review proposals submitted by the local NHS to modernize health services in their areas.

According to Ms Griffiths it will also give independent advice to Local Health Boards on their plans to ensure that they stood up to clinical best practice and delivered services of the highest quality.

Kirsty Williams AM, the Liberal Democrat spokesperson on health, also voiced concerns over the "outsourcing of decision making" and called on the minister to confirm that she would still have final decision on matters.
