Environment and Sustainability Committee

The committee met to discuss its remit in terms of an European context and future ways of working on 14 July 2011.

European consultant Greg Jones attended the committee to outline his role in opening up Brussels and keeping the committee informed on European issues.

As there is no European and External Affairs Committee in the fourth assembly, Mr Jones stressed the importance of including an European dimension across all assembly committees.

Conservative AM Antoinette Sandbach requested a background paper on European issues to help the AMs get up to speed.

The committee also voted in favour of setting up two task and finish groups that will be constructed over the summer.
