Assembly Commission questions

Cardiff Central AM Jenny Randerson raised concerns about the new information technology system for AMs on 17 November 2010.

She explained that problems with the system are "hampering" her in her job and that her "staff moral has plummeted".

Responding on behalf of the assembly commission, Peter Black AM apologised but stressed that they were doing everything they can to solve the IT problems.

The fact that the system has been rolled out in Tŷ Hywel, 108 supported sites and for 45 ad-hoc users is creating problems for the server.

Aberconwy's AM for Plaid Cymru Gareth Jones asked what the commission is doing in north Wales to increase public awareness of the assembly's role.

Mr Black explained that the bus with the outreach team is visiting towns across north Wales, they are encouraging active participation of democracy and targeting items for local and regional papers.

Jeff Cuthbert AM announced the appointment of Gerard Elias QC as the assembly's new Commissioner for Standards who's six year term will begin on 1 December 2010.

He also thanked Richard Penn for his contribution over the 11 years he has served the assembly.
