Short debate on animal welfare prosecutions

Brynle Williams highlighted the worrying conditions of many animals experienced due to neglect and the the high costs of their upkeep.

During the short debate on animal welfare prosecutions on 17 March 2010, Mr Williams called on the government to strengthen current arrangements to better protect the health and welfare of the animals.

The Rural Affairs Minister responded to the debate and said she recently taken steps to strengthen the current animal welfare act in order to reduce animals cruelty.

Ms Jones also stressed that that the assembly government had denoted £700,000 to promote animal welfare education across Wales.
