Oil and gas debate 2

Energy Minister Fergus Ewing said the key challenges for the oil and gas industry were meeting the skills challenge highlighted in the Oil and Gas strategy , tackling the ageing infrastructure and increasing the recovery levels of oil and gas.

Mr Ewing was closing the debate on oil and gas for the government on 9 January 2013.

The minister said an increase of just one percentage point in recovery rates would result in an additional £22 billion.

MSPs voted to pass the amended motion from Mr Ewing during decision time, with 118 MSPs backing it and 2 against.

Amendments from Scottish Labour and the Scottish Liberal Democrats were passed unanimously.

An amendment from the Scottish Greens was defeated.
