Commonwealth Games 2014 debate 2

MSPs unanimously voted in favour of an amended Scottish government motion noting the continued good progress being made in the preparations for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games after the second part of the debate on the forthcoming games on 18 December 2012.

In the first part of the debate Sport and Commonwealth Games Minister Shona Robison announced the security budget for the 2014 Commonwealth Games has more than tripled to £90 million, during the first part of the debate on 18 December 2012.

Ms Robison also told MSPs the new chief constable of the Police Service of Scotland, Stephen House, would take over "primary responsibility for the delivery of the overall security for the games".
