Topical questions - 27 November 2012

MSPs questioned Finance Secretary John Swinney and Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill during topical question time on 27 November 2012.

SNP MSP Bob Doris asked Mr Swinney whether the Scottish government would make representations to BAE Systems on behalf of the Scottish shipyard sector.

Mr Swinney said "BAE systems s a hugely important employer in Scotland and we want to ensure the that the strongest possible case for the retention of the Scottish yards is made and acted upon".

Labour MSP Lewis Macdonald asked Mr MacAskill what changes the Scottish government would make in relation to people who have been released from prison early and then reoffend before the end of their original sentence.

Before topical questions Liberal Democrat MSP Liam McArthur made a point of order calling on Education Secretary Russell to clarify remarks he made during last week's debate about college boards.
